Erikson's Development

 The following are a list of each life task and the positive and negative resolution of each challenge, as posited by Erik Erikson.

 

 

     Infancy- The task is trust vs mistrust. The outcomes are “I can trust you enough/ I can  trust the world enough”, or “I cannot trust you or the world enough”.

      Toddlerhood- The task is autonomy vs. shame, The outcomes Are “I am enough/ I am adequate” or “I am not enough/ I am not adequate”.

      3-6 Years-The task is initiative vs guilt. The outcomes are, ”I can affect enough (myself or the world)” or “I cannot affect enough (myself or the world)”.

     6-12 Years- The task is industry vs inferiority. The outcomes are “I am competent enough" or "I am not competent enough”.

      Adolescence- The task is ego identity vs role confusion. The outcomes are “I am a unique self” or “I am unsure of myself”.

         Early Adulthood- The task is intimacy vs. isolation. The  outcomes are "I can commit to close relationships and career" or "I cannot commit to close relationships/ career".

          Middle Adulthood- The task is generativity vs. stagnation. The outcomes are "I can grow and nurture growth", or "I cannot grow or nurture growth".

       Older Adulthood- The task is integrity vs. despair. The outcomes are "I am satisfied enough with my life and am ready to face death", or "I am not satisfied enough with my life and cannot face death without despair".
