Mental Health Parity Act of 2010

The Mental Health Parity Act, effective, January 1, 2010,  has been made into law requiring insurance companies to now offer and provide more mental health coverage.

The act extends the limits of coverage for insured people. As an example, the number of visits covered for therapy, either for individual or group, is no longer limited to a certain number of visits per year, by most insurance companies. What this means is that some level of reimbursement is required by law for each and every therapy session, both individual and group therapy.

It is very important for each seeker of therapy to follow up with their insurance company to find out the exact coverage that the new law  requires.
